And in the end we are all the same
We turn to dust we shed our shame
We hope we loved and were loved the same
We hope our lives were not lived in vain
And at the start we are all the same
We thought our hearts purity would sustain
Our eyes were wide we judged all the same
And all who looked upon us were shed of pain
And in between so much was changed
Deprivation of growth from a lack of rain
Mysteries never revealed what's plain
We could never cover up that mortal stain
And what was learned and what was sought
Conflicted all that was taught
A lesson for you a lesson for me
We are not the same
We were never the same
